Il Sentiero degli Dei

“The Path of Gods”

Bob took the big hike up to the Path of God’s tonight. Don’t think of your typical God.  We’re talking Zeus, Aires, Mercury, Medusa, and Mars.

Starting from Positano, it’s 1,700 steps up to the city of Nocelle.  This is no easy task; it took nearly an hour.  From there I walked about an hour to just above Priano.  Its was a spectacular view the entire way.  If you don’t like heights, this is NOT the hike for you.

This was my path.  I walked out and then followed the same path back.  It was about five miles round trip but felt like 20.

I was about 1400 feet above sea level.  The edge of the path was a very steep drop to the road below.  There were times were I was literally climbing with may hands on the rocks as I went up. While the climb was incredible, the were times when the edge made my stomach tighten up; very scary.  I also saw a thousand Gecko’s and a million flies.  UGH.

People who I passed said it took them 3.5 hours to walk from Bomerano to Nocelle.  Hiking up the stairs to Nocelle and half-way to Bomerano took me over two hours.  I turned around and, of course, walked down the 1,700 steps back to Positano.  The whole trip took four hours but was spectacular.

While Bob hiked, Lynn, Jackie, and Barry rested…

  1. I can’t believe Dad & I never made it to positano. He claimed we ran out of time. I think he didn’t want to deal with the highth. Oh well, maybe I’ll stick it on my bucket list but won’t hold my breath.

    Love, Mom
