Day 7 – Assissi

Well, today we visited Assisi. A stunning and unexpected surprise. The pictures below will give you some idea of the beauty of the city. The cathedral was absolutely captivating, especially the tomb of St. Francis.

As with every other city here, we had to do some serious climbing. But well worth it.

We had to go through some serious security at various points (military personnel with machine guns). The highlight of the security process was when two of the guards, who were very friendly, speculated we were from the US. On the way out of the that secured area, one of the guards said Barry looked like Donald Trump. Everyone had a good laugh, we think? BTW – they were so good looking, Connie requested a pat-down.

Finally, we ended our day at the local grocery store. Two women own and run the store. We have bought very much there and they are very appreciative. They don’t speak a word of English and it is a fun process. We keep buying all of the white local wine and Prosecco from the store and hope the locals don’t get upset. We’ll get picture of the owners on our next trip.

Beautiful day and trip

Tomorrow we are going to Orvieto. Wish you were here to share with us.

Arrivederci,
Barry
