Florence day 2

Buongiorno –

We started today with a tour of the Uffizi gallery, the fourth most visited gallery in the world. The tour had a shaky start as the electricity was out. We theorized it was due to the excessive heat (it has been in the mid nineties since we arrived and scheduled to hit 97 today). The tour was good and we saw the only Michaelangelo painting on canvas in existence. We also saw paintings by Leonardo Da Vinci and Botticelli.

Next, we went shopping in the market district. It was quite chaotic and crowded. After some bargaining, we purchased some goods.

After this, we had another terrible meal of ravioli, tomato caprese, beer & wine. The food is spectacular and addictive.

Finally, Bob went to climb the cathedral dome (everybody else chickened out—very high & open). The line was too long, so we went back to the hotel for some rest.

We ended the day on the hotel bar, followed a burger and fries at the Irish Pub. It was getting late, so we had to retire for the night.

Ciao,
Barry
