Niagara Falls

We just spent a long weekend in Niagara Falls. The weather was perfect all weekend. We stayed on the Canadian side. This is a very tourist focused place. Every other store is a souvenir shop. They also have all the usual arcades, wax museums, and Ripley’s believe it or not.

We stayed at Sheraton On the Falls which had an amazing few of the falls. Right below our room was a garden area where they had concerts two nights. They also had fireworks over the falls that were really cool too.

Niagara Falls is truly a wonder. We did all the standard stuff; the Maid of the Mist, Journey Behind the Falls, etc. That was great for a day or two but after that, this is just a tourist trap. Everything is very expensive.

Finally, we decided to go for a drive and found ourselves in a city called Niagara On The Lake. It was a very beautiful and historic town on lake Ontario. They were holding their annual Peach Festival with lots of music, food and arts and crafts.

We also stopped for a few winery “tastings”. This was Lynn’s favorite part of the whole trip. Although, Reif’s was very popular, I liked the wine at Peller’s much better.

Our last stop was a Whirlpool Jet Boat ride. They said to expect to get wet but that was crazy. We were soaked head to toe. Imagine having a swimming pool dumped on your head; it was that much water. So much water that it actually pushed me sideways in the boat and I was holding on with both hands.

  1. MUCH faster than the old site – fun pictures. Sage especially likes the one of Nathan and Reese getting pushed into the falls.

  2. Wow! Sure looks like fun. The pics are great. Those falls really are a wonder. Hope you rescued those kids on time. I would have been with Lynn on the winery trips. You guys look great.

  3. How beautiful. I always think of the song, “How Great THou Art” when I see such a sight. Many years since we have been there. Dad took me on my 30th. Love you. Mom L.
